Trying not to Drown

My talented friend Sandy made this for me... Don't you love it? Go see my sweeties blog.I wanted to say hello quickly to all my friends out in Blogland. I've been spending lots of time with my mom and wrapping up a lot of loose ends of my Dad's estate. So I'm trying to squeeze some Whimsie special orders through the work shop, and experience some real "DREAM COME TRUE" stuff.

The Test Market of the Wizard of Oz ornaments was very successful. The series will be released January 2008, and I am SO EXCITED!!! In addition to the ornaments, I was requested to make a Wizard of Oz clock for Ashton Drake. Oh my goodness.... these clocks will be much smaller than my orginals, but to see them in a much smaller scale is thrilling!

Lastly, my Serenity Angel Clock will be featured in Art Doll Quarterly in the December/January issue. This is another FIRST for me. Believe in your dreams everyone...They really do come true!

Nesting!

I've been in a serious cleaning out and cleaning up mood. Here is one of my weekend projects. My house is 60 years old, and my back patio slab is probably that old. We received bids to lay new concrete...BIG $$$s... so I decided to paint it like a crazy quilt! I used old and rejected paints to accomplish this project. I do love how it turned out!

It's hard to explain but my creative energies are moving about, but not necessarily into creations...into my person and into my home. I will be listing a Whimsie tomorrow which has been in the works for months. She is a FIRST for me, so it will be interesting to see what you think. Until then, I will keep scrubbing, tossing, and painting. Enjoy the day!

This prayer has gotten me through many tough moments in my life...to help me understand what I actually have "control" of, and what I do not....
This beautiful clock, I have been working on for over a month. I was on a mission to submit this Winter Fairy to Art Doll Quarterly for the June 15th deadline. This piece is the first piece that I have ever submitted..for various reasons. I was committed to do this for myself..June 13th I was suppose to ship Priority then decided I was whooped from graduation, hospital visits to dad, and it was Mom's birthday...so I will Express tomorrow.....My Dad died that night, and in my shocked, depressed stupor, I looked at this clock...my angel....my creation.....so ironically timed. What should I do? Send or keep? I thought of my Dad, and I know what he would tell me..."Honey, do your thing"....and so I did. Thank you Dad!

I've lost my Dad

With unbelievable sorrow I have got to say that a piece of my heart is gone. My father died yesterday June 14th, 2007. My dad was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with pneunomia and seemed to be recovering quite well. He was due to be moved to a care facility yesterday, in order to regain some strength in his legs. He was found by the night nurse not breathing and all efforts to rescitate him were made. Words cannot express my feelings of loss. Please pray for my mom and our family. Thank you all!

Busy weekend around the hacienda...My son Max is graduating High School and Jilly is coming home to surprise him! I am so proud of Max, and I know I'm going to cry like crazy! I just can't believe that my sweet little boy is "grown up"..well not quite, but definitely a landmark. Where did the time go? Well so much of it went to a job that I hated and the words "We've got to hurry", will be embedded in my mind forever. I HATE that phrase, and I have sworn to never say it to my children again.

I am so, so, so THANKFUL to have been given a chance to follow my dreams of being artist and working from home. I know I have been given a great gift. If you are trying to leave your job and change your life.....YOU CAN DO IT!!! It might take some time and probably sacrifices, but it's worth every wrinkle!

Wishing

I have several wishes that I think of daily, and from day to day, they change in intensity, however they are always there. My biggest wish is to have Whimsies in the thousands and spread all over the Earth, but just for today, my Biggest wish is to have our PFATT daughter, Brianna, cured. She had one of several zillion hurdles to overcome today, and so far... so good. I am thankful and happy that this Wish is happening. Be good to one another, and never give up on your Wishes!

My Girl is back in LA

Yep, she is finally "home" in Los Angeles after 2 months in Atlanta and 2 weeks in the Bahamas. Now what? She has no clue..She was told that they would be going on a "mini tour" in July, but that is up in the air. It seems because of the record label change, that Janet will possibly make another album. If that is the case, then there will be no tour for at least 6 months.

Now the questions is what will she do now? Well I would imagine she will go back to her natural hair color(with a little help :)to the above color. Her natural curl could be a lot harder to recover, but I will keep my fingers crossed. This is a more recent pictured since the "makeover" by Janet:

There is so much work and stress in the life that she has chosen, but I know she never regrets the path. I am hoping that she comes home for Max's graduation next month, but only the stars will tell. I am hoping that I see this girl return:

Happy Mother's Day!

It was an eventful weekend, and none of it has to do with Whimsies. Friday night, my daughter Jillian performed in the Bahamas with Janet Jackson...It's surreal to think about, but here is where she's been staying for the past 2 weeks.(Atlantis)Tomorrow night there will be clips on Entertainment Tonight or E..so I will be watching.. Here is a still photo of the show Jillian did manage to send me a present..a Red Velvet Cake from Doughboy Bakery in Los Angeles. Oprah rated it the best cake in America, and here it is :

It was Prom for Max on Saturday night, and of course, in typical Max fashion, he was running a "little behind". Greg and I spent the day gathering his wardrobe from the cleaners, Ross, and the tuxedo shop. I picked up a beautiful corsage for his date, and the only thing I missed out on was dinner. LOL Here is my beautiful boy (who will be 18 in only 1 week..eghads)Here's the happy couple: That unhappy look is stress because they were running late..this time not because of Max... the other couple...LOL

Well, I guess that's it... I've got a whole lot of work to do, and 2 birthdays this week... Max and also Jack who will be 12. May the Force be with you!

My Visit with Sam and IVA

Another BIG THRILL of mine was going to AMERICAN HARVEST Sharon the owner is such a sweet person, and her shop will make your knees wobble.
That's Sharon, Sam, and Kitty Forseth (another very talented PFATT artist..go here to see her blog) pictured inside American Harvest. We discussed adding some Whimsie babies to her beautiful shop, so we are planning on sending our first Halloween babies of 2007 to her shop! Shopping, eating, shopping, sitting on the beach, shopping, great hugs, and more shopping pretty much covered our whole trip. I love my family for always taking care of things while I'm gone, and I love my sister and my friends who made my trip so much fun. Sammie... you know how special you are, and I love you very much! And all who are reading this, never take anything for granted. Tell the people you love that you care deeply for them, and always, always follow your heart...and eat dessert first!

Well I am on my way to see my bestest friend, Sammie... of Sam I Am, and to meet Zinnie (zinniastreasures) and Kitty Forseth. The biggest part of this trip is to Hug IVA and to whisper Paris in Brianna's ear. She is holding her own, and thats wonderful!

My Heart is Breaking!

As many of you know I am a member of PFATT (Primitive Folk Art Tea & Talk). One very talented member, Iva's Creations, has a very serious family health crisis. Her daughter was a normal healthy Junior in High school, and out of no where, she was diagnosed with Leukemia, only 7 months ago. She needed a bone marrow transplant and like yesterday! She received her transplant a couple of months ago, and because of complications, she is in ICU fighting for her life. I feel so sad and helpless, so I am reaching out into Blogland.... hoping if more people send a positive thought or prayer for this dear girl, she will pull through....Here is the link: http://iva-and-family.blogspot.com/

Another Batch!

I'm tired and my head is hurting, BUT I'm happy, nervous, and pretty pleased with my recent batch of Oz ornaments. There has been little time to do anything but work on these and eat.. I miss all of my friends and listing on EBAY, however things are moving along. Will keep you posted!

Taking Chances...

LICENSING... Sometimes it fits in an artist life, and sometimes not... I have looked and attempted it several times. Once it resulted in a question in my mind. Another time it resulted in a brush off..and another time, with heart break and anger. Why would I ever want to do this? Well, my ultimate goal is to write short fairy tales filled with Whimsies, that will entertain and help people escape into little magical places. I am hoping that my art is the first step. So here I go again... A Wizard of Oz Whimsie... by a licensed distributor...Who knows how this will turn out, but I will certainly keep you posted! Until next time..

Time Flies...

Happy Friday! I love Fridays whether I have a "real job" or not! ha.ha.ha. Unbelievable things have happened since my last post, and boy, I'd like to spill, BUT until it's firm and for sure... My lips are sealed! Let's just keep this ball with Wings ROLLING!

Anyone have children that drive you nuts? If I end up with a full head of hair by June 15th, I will be shocked! God love him, but Lord, it's just one hurdle after another. There couldn't be a sweeter kid on this Earth, but I feel like I'm working with the "Nutty Professor"... He has his Sr. Seminar project due in a month, and lets just say.. he's about 25% done.. Forgot to turn in his cap & gown form, needs to finish a STate requirement, a Choir trip, a Drama trip, and work.. Lordy, I might keel... Throwing magic dust on him and my hair! Positive Affirmations!

Without HOPE, the human spirit just dies...Living in the NW, we go without sun for periods of time, and it really takes its toll on me during Winter and Spring. This week I listened to some great videos and did some positive affirmation work, and that is exactly what I needed to lift the "gray" from my day.

I also tried something totally new and made an "Artist Reel" with many of my favorite Whimsies. I've had the music selected for quite some time, but finally sat still long enough, and made it happen. I am impatiently waiting for it to upload, and when it's done, I will shout it loud!

I do love rabbits and Springtime so very much, and however fleeting, my Springtime creations give me a smile. Here is my newest on EBAY, as well as an Americana Clock.
